Borderline Update - 11/7/19
As you all know, today marks the one year anniversary where all of our lives were changed forever. Not a day goes by that we do not think about our friends and family who we have lost. This past year has been extremely difficult for all of us as a community, but together we have helped each other move forward and continue our healing process one day at a time. After that tragic night last November our Borderline family became stronger and closer than ever before. Seeing all the love and support pour out of our community has been truly amazing to watch and has given all of us the strength to push forward throughout this past year.
We want to start out by giving a heartfelt thank you to the City of Thousand Oaks, Conejo Recreation and Park District, Ventura County Sheriff’s Department, Ventura County Fire Department, EMS and so many others that have been working together to put on today’s special event for our community. The unveiling of the Healing Garden at Conejo Creak Park North is an opportunity for us all to come together in prayer, unity, and support one another while we remember the beautiful lives of the Borderline 12. We understand that everyone grieves in their own way and that you all need to do what is best for you. We just want you all to know that we are here for each and everyone of you and that we will all get through this together by staying Borderline Strong. So please, do not ever be afraid to come say hi and talk to us about anything.
As for us, many of you have been asking what we have been doing for the past year so we would like to give you all an update on what we have been working on and all the things to come. One of the most frequently asked questions we get is, what is happening with the bar? Because of our unique situation, we do not have a definitive answer as to when, where, or if we can reopen. But rest assured that we know how much Borderline means to so many people and we are doing everything in our power to bring back an establishment where everyone can reunite and continue to make memories. For now, all we can say is that when we have more answers on reopening, ya’ll will be the first to know!
Besides our everyday conversations about reopening Borderline, we have also been busy creating other events for all of us to get together and rebuild emotionally as a community. To start with, we are very excited about this Saturday’s upcoming event, The Borderline Strong Party In the Park. The thought behind the party in the park is to create an annual event for our Borderline Strong family and community to get together and honor the Borderline 12 for years to come. This year’s event will include live music, line dancing, a beer garden, and food trucks. We put a lot of heart into this event in hopes to continue bringing our community together and helping each other heal. We look forward to seeing you all this Saturday having a great time, smiling, dancing, and reminiscing!
We also have a brand new storefront where everyone can stop by, say hi, and conveniently purchase any of the items from our Borderline Clothing selection that is on display. These items are also available online at borderlinecothing.com and thanks to Lacy and Mel, your favorite Borderline bartenders, we are continuously restocking and creating new styles of clothing monthly.
Store front located at: 31143 Via Colinas Suite #510 Westlake Village Ca. 91362
We would like to say thank you to everyone who has helped us make Wednesday Country Nights at Agoura Canyon Club and Thursday Country Nights at Santa Clarita Canyon Club a success and a night of the week that so many of us once again look forward to. Thank you for supporting us by attending these events and purchasing our clothing. This has helped keep us afloat during this past year and is making it possible for us to continue working hard to bring these events to our community.
So that is what we have been up to this past year, slowly getting back into a new sense of normal and for us, healing by focusing our attention on what we love and what we hope will bring joy to so many and hopefully bring us even closer together as a community. Again, thank you all for your support. We wouldn’t be able to continue on with our daily work lives if it wasn’t for all of you and your support.
We want to end by thanking everyone from this past year who has helped raise funds for the families, contributed their time and effort in so many ways, and gone above and beyond for this community. You all know who you are! We think we speak on behalf of all the families and everyone effected by November 7th when we say that we can’t thank you enough for your love, kindness, and the support you have all shown us.
God bless you all.
